BE NICE TO YOURSELF

Image
If you don't take care of yourself, who will? As the curtain closes in on February, here is a reminder that you should take a break and take care of yourself. Taking care of yourself is sometimes underrated. We tend to expend ourselves so much that we barely stop to take care of the body that is doing the work. Sometimes, we even consider it a luxury or something people who don't know what to do with too much money indulge in. The human body is a system that needs to reboot and regenerate itself. Sleep and relaxation are two of the ways the body does this. Taking care of yourself is essential because it lays the foundation for a healthier, happier, and more resilient life. Regular self-care practices like proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep can help boost your strength and prevent illness. Consider self-care as an investment into your future; a strong foundation to handle life's challenges and enjoy a higher quality of life in the long haul. Remember, self-care is not abo...

SETTING HEALTHY BOUNDARIES IN RELATIONSHIPS

Image
Welcome to today's post. Yesterday we touched on building healthy relationships. Understanding that we will always need the right people around us, should encourage us to strive to build healthy relationships. There will always be John who will serve as a forerunner for Jesus. It does not mean that you do not possess the skills and knowledge to execute your vision and goals but having pioneers and forerunners has a way of providing a soft landing for what you want to accomplish. Since our goal is to build confidence and resilience it is important to protect our mental and general well-being in the course of connecting and building relationships. This is where the concept of setting healthy boundaries comes in. Healthy boundaries mean establishing clear and respectful limits that define how you want to be treated, while also putting into consideration the needs and rights of the other person. Setting healthy boundaries provides a sense of respect, safety, and mutual understanding, l...

BUILDING HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

Image
Hello and welcome to todays post. How has the journey been? Remember to take actions however small towards realizing your goals. No man is an island and we cannot deny the power of relationships in fostering the right environment for our goals to thrive. Our confidence can flourish when we feel seen and supported. The right relationships will help us see our strengths, on the other hand, unhealthy relationships drain us, burn us out, and hold us back. To build a supportive relationship at any level, be it with family, friends, or colleagues, they all require trust, mutual care, communication, and understanding. A healthy supportive relationship requires effort from both sides, but when it has been nurtured, they tend to provide a strong foundation for happiness, boost your confidence, encourage personal growth and resilience. The people in your life influence your thoughts, behaviour, and emotions so it is very important to cultivate relationships that inspire and build you up. Like th...

BEATING PROCRASTINATION

Image
Procrastination is said to be the thief of time, and rightly so because time is always on the move, and we are time-bound creatures. The clock does not go backward but ever forward. So, when we keep putting off a task to "later", it could result in wasted time that can never be recovered. Also, most of the time we procrastinate, it is always an important task that we put aside, to rest a little, sleep some more, check out the latest on social media, hang out with friends, just something that may not be very productive.  Other times, the reason behind our procrastination could be fear of the unknown, fear of failure, we want everything to be perfect before we start or lack of motivation. Whatever our reasons may be, the resultant effect of procrastination is missed opportunities, delayed progress, reduced productivity, stress, and last minute rush. Back in school, students would just attend lectures and that was it. Then comes the exam timetable, then you will now see those wh...

PRACTICE GRATITUDE FOR CONFIDENCE

Image
You may or may not realize it, but a lot is working out for your good. It's the weekend, and I would like you to cast your mind back as you ponder on this familiar song "Count Your Blessings".  When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost Count your many blessings name them one by one And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done Count your blessings, name them one by one Count your blessings, see what God hath done Count your blessings, name them one by one And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done Are you ever burdened with a load of care? Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear? Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly And you will be singing as the days go by When you look at others with their lands and gold Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold Count your many blessings, money cannot buy Your reward in heaven, nor your Lord on high So amid the conflict, whether great or sma...

OVERCOMING SELF-DOUBT

Image
Self-doubt? Even the best, confident people sometimes doubt themselves. In fact, if your dreams, goals, and ambitions do not scare you and sometimes make you feel like you are over-rating yourself, then you probably might not be living the best version of yourself.  Self-doubt is the uncertainty or lack of confidence in oneself and one's abilities. It can stem from past failures, not meeting up expectations, fear of judgment, perfectionism, and comparing oneself unfavourably with others. While occasional self-doubt may be normal, persistent self-doubt hinders overall growth and success. Self-doubt can pose significant challenges to personal development, but if approached correctly, it may also serve as a powerful driver for growth. The key is to acknowledge it, confront it, and harness it as motivation for improvement. How  Can Self-Doubt Affect Your Personal Growth? 1. BUILDING MENTAL SAGACITY

Image
Hello and welcome! We are still on the theme for this month which is building resilience and confidence. The word sagacity has recently become a buzzword for me, showing up everywhere I turn. However, it has been around as my dic tionary shows it was first used in the 15th century (that old). The word sagacity simply replaces the word strength. Have you found yourself in situations where it looked like you were mentally drained? Other times, it looks like your head is popping corn (it sounds better in my native language). I've been there, and I know it can be very draining.  It is important to build mental strength so you don't break down. So first off, what is mental sagacity. Mental sagacity is the quality of having sharp insight good judgment and wisdom it's the ability to reason, understand complex situations, and make wise choices.  Anyone with mental sagacity possesses the ability to understand root realities in a situation and come up with effective solutions prom...

CONFIDENCE MYTHS

Image
Special greetings to you today. Why am I greeting you special and differently today? Everyday is special. We've not seen today before and will not see it ever again. Are you always saving something (utensils, clothes, shoes, drinks, etc), waiting for an occasion when you will use it? Please bring it out and use it. Being alive is a special occasion enough. Our theme for this month is building resilience and confidence. There are several common myths about confidence that can mislead people. We will be busting some of these myths today: 1. Confidence is something you're born with. Myth: Some people are just born confident, and others aren't. Truth: Confidence is a skill that can be developed over time. It often comes with experience, practice, and willingness to face and learn from challenges. 2. Confident people don’t have doubts. Myth: Confident individuals never experience self-doubt. Truth: Even the most confident people have doubts from time to time. How they manage...

STORIES OF RESILIENCE

Image
Hello and welcome. I want to share notable stories of people who demonstrated resilience in the face of difficult circumstances. Somewhere in the back of my mind, it's clear that being a Nigerian (did you just laugh or smile) is enough resilience in itself. So before I get into that, if you are a Nigerian, please take your flowers ๐ŸŒทfor defying all the odds and still pushing.  Over the years, Nigeria has faced significant economic challenges, including high unemployment rates, inflation, and fuel shortages. In the face of these struggles, Nigerians have displayed remarkable resilience. Entrepreneurs have risen to the occasion, building businesses that support the local economy despite unstable conditions. Nigerian citizens, from street vendors to tech innovators, and diasporians continue to demonstrate resilience by finding creative ways to survive and thrive amid adversity. There was one survey that said Nigerians were the happiest people on earth ๐Ÿ˜Š. It's the way we are able ...

MINDSET SHIFT FOR GROWTH

Image
Hello and welcome to today's post. How are you holding up? I trust your goals and vision are coming along fine. Great! just know that you will be fine. Those efforts will surely pay off. There is a familiar statement that '' change is not easy, but growth demands it ". Read that again, this time slowly, paying attention to each word and how they connect in that sentence. This reminds me of a funny exchange we used to have with lecturers then in school. A lecturer will introduce a textbook for students to buy, in our student-characteristic manner we would start chorusing from different corners-"Sir, is it compulsory, Sir, is it compulsory to buy the textbook?" The lecturer would then respond-"it's not compulsory, but it is necessary". Without being told anything further, we knew what that meant. Can you relate? Let me know in the comment section. If it is growth you seek and not just moving in circles, then change needs to be introduced to actual...

Resilience and confidence are both crucial traits that can help individuals navigate challenges and grow. It's about maintaining a positive outlook, learning from failures, and finding ways to overcome obstacles, no matter how tough life may get. Key aspects of resilience include: Emotional regulation: The ability to manage your emotions, especially during tough times. Optimism: Seeing challenges as temporary and believing in your ability to overcome them. Support systems: Having a strong network of people to lean on. HELLO FEBRUARY

Image
February is here! The almighty two months in one is over. February is shorter and filled with love. Before you know it, we'll be halfway through, and next, it's over again. Beloved 2025 is on the move. Don't watch the clock do what it does, get moving. The theme for this month revolves around  building confidence and resilience .  There is a needed confidence to enter into certain spaces where your announcement awaits you. Similarly, you need confidence  to say yes to and take up seemingly daunting tasks. Nothing happens by chance, there is always a necessary trigger to birth the manifestation you anticipate.  We would explore and leverage confidence and resilience as keys to reaching our grand destination. We would employ, deploy, and engage resilience to every no's and "reject" we get and keep moving on towards our desired YES.  The preparation is man, the answer is God. However, man will always have a role to play in the grand design of destiny. Nehemiah a ...
