SETTING HEALTHY BOUNDARIES IN RELATIONSHIPS

Welcome to today's post. Yesterday we touched on building healthy relationships. Understanding that we will always need the right people around us, should encourage us to strive to build healthy relationships. There will always be John who will serve as a forerunner for Jesus. It does not mean that you do not possess the skills and knowledge to execute your vision and goals but having pioneers and forerunners has a way of providing a soft landing for what you want to accomplish.

Since our goal is to build confidence and resilience it is important to protect our mental and general well-being in the course of connecting and building relationships. This is where the concept of setting healthy boundaries comes in.

Healthy boundaries mean establishing clear and respectful limits that define how you want to be treated, while also putting into consideration the needs and rights of the other person. Setting healthy boundaries provides a sense of respect, safety, and mutual understanding, locking out resentment and conflicts.

Healthy boundaries encourage your confidence and boost your resilience by:

  • Defining your worth: setting healthy boundaries shows that you value yourself and deserve to be treated with respect and kindness.
  • Prevent Self Sacrifice: It helps you avoid over-exerting yourself at the expense of your own well being.
  • Encourages originality: You spare yourself the pressure of trying to be a people pleaser and trying to accommodate everyone.
  • Attracts Respectful People: Those who honour your boundaries will build healthier, and more fulfilling relationships with you.
  • Reduces Stress and Resentment: Clear boundaries prevents the emotional drain from having to say "yes" when it's "no" you have in mind.
  • Encourages Emotional Independence: Setting boundaries allows you to know that you are 100% responsible for your own happiness and not wait for people to validate you.
  • Mutual Respect: Healthy boundaries help both parties to understand and respect personal space, time, and emotions.
There are several areas in your life, you can decide to create these boundaries.
You could set:
Personal boundaries: This is aimed at allowing you acheive your personal goals.
Emotional Boundries: This keeps you in charge of your emotions, allowing you to recognize manipulation and be in charge of your feelings. What happens to you is 10%, how you respond is 90%.
Work Boundaries: With work boundaries, you communicate your expectations, set clear working hours and take breaks without guilt.
Social Boundaries: Allows you to limit social media exposure, choose your inner circle wisely, and say no without over-explaining.
Physical Boundaries: You get to respect personal space, set limits on physical touch,
Digital Boundaries: Take time outs regularly, set response expectations, mute or block when needed.
Spiritual Boundaries: Prioritize activities that nourish your spiritual well-being, stand firm in your belif while respecting others, and, protect yourself from negativity and manipulation.

I leave you with this quote👇.
Keep being original and birthing possibilities.
