STORIES OF RESILIENCE
Hello and welcome.
I want to share notable stories of people who demonstrated resilience in the face of difficult circumstances.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, it's clear that being a Nigerian (did you just laugh or smile) is enough resilience in itself. So before I get into that, if you are a Nigerian, please take your flowers ๐ทfor defying all the odds and still pushing.
Over the years, Nigeria has faced significant economic challenges, including high unemployment rates, inflation, and fuel shortages. In the face of these struggles, Nigerians have displayed remarkable resilience. Entrepreneurs have risen to the occasion, building businesses that support the local economy despite unstable conditions. Nigerian citizens, from street vendors to tech innovators, and diasporians continue to demonstrate resilience by finding creative ways to survive and thrive amid adversity.
There was one survey that said Nigerians were the happiest people on earth ๐. It's the way we are able to smile through all the challenges against us and still believe that tomorrow will be better.
Here are some notable stories of individuals who demonstrated resilience. This aims to encourage you and keep you going. Remember, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
1. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is an internationally respected economist who faced numerous challenges in her career. As Nigeria’s Finance Minister, she navigated a complex political environment and dealt with issues like corruption and economic instability. Despite these obstacles, she became the first woman and the first African to lead the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2021. Her resilience and dedication have made her an inspiring figure for women and people of African descent globally.
2. Hellen Keller: Despite losing her sight and hearing at a young age, Hellen Keller became an author, political activist, and lecturer. Her story of overcoming immense obstacles to become a prominent advocate for people living with disabilities is truly inspiring.

4. Malala Yousafzai: Malala's story of resilience is globally known. She was shot by the Taliban for advocating girls' education in Pakistan, but she survived and became an international symbol for education and women's rights. She later became the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate.
