PRACTICE GRATITUDE FOR CONFIDENCE
You may or may not realize it, but a lot is working out for your good.
It's the weekend, and I would like you to cast your mind back as you ponder on this familiar song "Count Your Blessings".
When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost
Count your many blessings name them one by one
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost
Count your many blessings name them one by one
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done
Count your blessings, name them one by one
Count your blessings, see what God hath done
Count your blessings, name them one by one
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done
Count your blessings, see what God hath done
Count your blessings, name them one by one
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly
And you will be singing as the days go by
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly
And you will be singing as the days go by
When you look at others with their lands and gold
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your Lord on high
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your Lord on high
So amid the conflict, whether great or small
Do not be discouraged, God is over all
Count your many blessings, angels will attend
Help and comfort give you to your journey's end.
Do not be discouraged, God is over all
Count your many blessings, angels will attend
Help and comfort give you to your journey's end.
Practice gratitude for the seemingly little things we take for granted. And even if something were to happen, God is the reason you have not lost everything.
Here is an activity to help you keep track of things you really should be grateful for.
- Get a jar or small container with a lid, call it your "Gratitude Jar/Container".
- Set up your jar in a place convenient for you.
- Write down positive Moments: Every day or week, write down something you are grateful for or a positive moment that boosted your confidence. This could include small wins, things you've learned, or moments where you've shown resilience.
- Reflect and Celebrate: At the end of each week or month, take some time to read through your gratitude notes. Reflect on how much you have grown, how resilient you've been, and all the positive aspects of your life. This will help you recognize your achievements, boosting self-esteem and reinforcing resilience.
The more we express gratitude, the more we will have, see things to be grateful for.
David was a man who utilized the keys of gratitude, never lacking something to thank God for (Psalm 103).
Jesus knew how to multiply his little with gratitude (feeding over 5000 men with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes, calling up Lazarus from the dead, still with thanksgiving).
Gratitude helps to shift our perspective to align with our positive expectations.
Practice gratitude today and always.
