THIS TOO SHALL PASS

This Too Shall Pass
"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."-Psalm 30:5
There’s an ancient saying that captures the ups and downs of life: "This too shall pass." It was crafted by a king’s advisers, meant to remind him that both prosperity and hardship are fleeting.
This idea resonates profoundly in the Easter story, a transformative moment in history.

Good Friday: When Darkness Felt Like the End
Imagine the agony of Good Friday, the sky darkening over Golgotha, the sound of nails piercing flesh, and the silence that followed. The disciples, who had witnessed miracles and held unshakeable hope, were suddenly faced with despair.
That Saturday must have felt endless. The Gospels share little about it, perhaps because it captures where many of us find ourselves: stuck in that uncomfortable in-between. Between loss and healing, disappointment and hope, grief and new beginnings.
The disciples grieved without knowing that Sunday, the day of resurrection, was coming. But God knew.
The Resurrection: The Morning That Changed Everything
On that first Easter morning, a group of women approached the tomb, ready to mourn. What they found instead was hope: the stone rolled away, the tomb empty, and the angel declaring, "He is not here; He is risen!" The resurrection isn’t just a past miracle; it’s a promise that death isn’t the final word. Every dark Friday passes, even if it feels endless at the moment.

If you’re in a Good Friday moment,  waiting for healing, grappling with loss, or facing uncertainty, the Easter story speaks directly to you. It doesn’t offer empty words but reminds us of a God who understands suffering. When Jesus appeared to His disciples after the resurrection, He still bore the marks of His suffering. Those wounds, once symbols of pain, became proof of victory. Your scars may remain too, but they don’t determine your story's ending. In time, they may reveal the power of resilience and hope.

The Eternal Perspective: The saying "this too shall pass" serves as a reminder for both good and challenging times. Life is a series of fleeting moments, inviting us to look beyond our present struggles. The Apostle Paul, who faced his own share of hardships, encouraged us to focus on the greater glory yet to come. This Easter, we’re reminded to acknowledge our pain but also to anchor ourselves in the promise of what lies ahead.
