ARE YOU DRINKING ENOUGH WATER?
“Water is life” may sound like a cliché, but it is one of the most accurate statements ever made. The human body depends on water for almost every function: circulation, digestion, temperature regulation, brain performance, and even mood stability.
Sometimes, what we call a “mysterious ailment” may simply be dehydration in disguise.
A woman experienced a headache every Sunday for several years. She prayed about it, worried over it, and even came to accept it as "one of those things". Little did she know that the answer to her problem was in her water intake habits.
Every Sunday afternoon, she would get a headache that rarely occurred on any other day. These headaches would resolve themselves by the next morning after a good night's rest. Initially, she thought it might be due to her family tradition of fasting until after church on Sundays, but she rarely experienced headaches on other days when she fasted until a certain time as well.
The revelation came after a particularly severe headache one Sunday that nearly landed her in the hospital. Pausing to reflect on the cause, she researched her symptoms, reflected on her routine, and realized that she was not drinking enough water. In fact, on Sundays, she barely drank water.
The following Sunday, she tried something simple. She started with a glass of water before leaving home and brought another bottle to church, sipping from it throughout the day. To her amazement, when afternoon came, the time when her headache usually peaked, she had no headache at all.
She later realized that even on other days, her water intake did not match her body’s output. She was losing more fluid than she was replacing. Her body had been quietly asking for help.
And the solution was not complicated. It was water.
- Do not wait until you are thirsty to drink water. Thirst is already a late signal.
- Mild dehydration can trigger headaches, fatigue, dizziness, poor concentration, and irritability.
- Your brain is highly sensitive to fluid balance.
- Small, consistent sips throughout the day are better than trying to “catch up” all at once.
Your body runs on water. Sometimes the breakthrough you are praying for may be as simple as improving a daily habit.
Have you had water today? Oya, go and drink water.
