MORE THAN A GOOD NAME

Reputation is who people think you are. Character is who you are when no one is watching.

Reputation is built in public, Character is built in private.

You can manage a reputation… but you must develop character.

Reputation Is What They Say

Reputation travels faster than you do. It enters rooms before you arrive. It can open doors, secure contracts, gain influence, and attract admiration.

People respond to what they perceive. A good name carries weight. Even Scripture acknowledges this in Proverbs 22:1“A good name is more desirable than great riches.”

But reputation can be curated. It can be polished. It can be carefully managed through visibility, branding, and selective storytelling.

Character cannot.

Character Is Who You Are

Character is your internal compass. It is what governs your choices when no one is clapping. It is what restrains you when temptation is convenient. It is what sustains you when reputation is attacked. Reputation may make you visible, but Character makes you stable.

When storms come, and they always do, reputation cannot hold you up. Only character can.

In Luke 6:48, Jesus describes a man who built his house on a solid foundation. When the floods came, it stood firm. That foundation is character. Without it, public image collapses under private weakness.

Do not build a life that looks impressive but lacks depth.

Reputation is what people clap for.

Character is what God measures.

Reputation can make you known. Character makes you trustworthy.

And in the long run, it is better to lose applause than to lose integrity.

Guard your character. Let your reputation be the byproduct, not the goal.
