GOD'S LOVE IS NOT SEASONAL

February often arrives wrapped in red roses. Everywhere you turn, you see red decorations, special church programmes, and messages about romance and relationships. For some people, love seems louder in February than in any other month. For me, it is cake vendors pressing necks with all the Valentine packages.

Love Beyond Seasons
Seasonal love is predictable. It appears at convenient times and fades when conditions change. People love when it is easy, when they feel appreciated, or when it benefits them. But when challenges arise, misunderstandings occur, or expectations are unmet, love often grows cold.

While human love may come and go with seasons, emotions, and circumstances, God’s love remains constant, yesterday, today, and forever.

The Bible reminds us in Lamentations 3:22–23 that His mercies are new every morning. This means that God’s love is not tied to calendars, celebrations, or emotions. It does not depend on how good we have been, how much we deserve it, or how favorable our circumstances are. It flows consistently, like a river that never runs dry.

Love That Does Not Expire
Human love can expire. Friendships break, relationships drift apart, and promises are sometimes forgotten. But God’s love has no expiry date.

Romans 8:38–39 assures us that nothing-neither life nor death, neither present nor future, can separate us from the love of God. This is powerful. It means that even in our weakest moments, when we feel unworthy or distant, God’s love remains intact.

When we fail, He does not withdraw His love.
When we are confused, He does not abandon us.
When life becomes difficult, He does not change His heart toward us.

  • In seasons of joy, His love celebrates with us.
  • In seasons of pain, His love comforts us.
  • In seasons of waiting, His love sustains us.
  • In seasons of uncertainty, His love guides us.

While human affection may fluctuate with circumstances, God’s love remains our anchor.

Living From the Assurance of God’s Love
Understanding that God’s love is not seasonal changes how we live.

We no longer seek validation solely from people.
We are not crushed by rejection or failure.
We learn to love others more genuinely because we are secure in God’s love.

When we know that we are deeply loved by God, we stop chasing temporary affirmations and start building our identity on eternal truth.

Beyond February
When February ends, many Valentine gifts will be forgotten, and many promises will not be fulfilled. But God’s love will still be present in March, April, and every month of the year.

As believers, we must learn to build our confidence not on seasonal affection but on eternal love. When we truly understand that God’s love is not seasonal, we become stronger, more stable, and more compassionate in our love for others.

So, while the world celebrates love in February, let us remember a deeper truth: God’s love is not seasonal. It is forever.
