WALKING VS RACING WITH GOD
The Olympic Games showcase years of dedication and effort being tested on an international stage. Athletes are competing against the world's best, and everyone must bring their A-game to succeed at this level of competition.
The relay race is particularly fascinating because winning does not rely solely on the efforts of one individual. Each person in the relay lineup has to perform at their best to secure victory. The process of passing and receiving the baton is crucial to the race's outcome. Some runners take off early, trying to gain an advantage before the baton reaches them. While some athletes may start strong, their team might not finish well, which can impact the overall result. Conversely, others may start off poorly, leading spectators to believe they are out of the race, only to surprise everyone when the final runner receives the baton and sprints to victory with incredible speed. It's a truly captivating race!
The race is thrilling to watch. But for those walking with God, the call is different. A race is about competition, a walk is about intimacy, companionship, fellowship, and relationship. God is not handing out medals for who finishes first; He’s shaping hearts that finish faithfully.
Athletes train for years for a few seconds of glory. Their focus is intense, but their race is short. God’s race (the walk of faith) lasts a lifetime. It’s not about explosive starts, but enduring steps. There’s something sacred about unhurried obedience.
When you walk with God, you learn rhythm. You stop tripping over comparison or burnout. You move with grace, not haste. You realize that divine timing cannot be rushed, and that sometimes, slowing down is the only way to catch up with what God is doing.
So, while the world celebrates its fastest, heaven smiles on those who simply stay in stride. The goal is not to break records but to build a relationship with your maker.
Happy weekend.
