LET GOD INTERRUPT YOUR PLAN

We love a good plan.
The neat to-do lists, the carefully crafted timelines, the vision boards filled with dreams, it gives us a sense of control. We like to know where we’re headed and how long it will take to get there. And honestly, planning isn’t a bad thing. Scripture even encourages diligence and wise preparation.
But here’s the truth: no matter how perfectly we map things out, God reserves the right to interrupt our plans.
And more often than not, His interruptions are not detours, they’re divine redirections.

1. The Nature of God’s Interruptions
Sometimes, God interrupts with a closed door.
Other times, with an unexpected opportunity.
It could be a job that doesn’t come through, a relationship that ends, or even a sudden shift in circumstances that forces us to pause.

Mary, the mother of Jesus-she was a young woman betrothed to Joseph, with her life all mapped out. Then suddenly, the angel Gabriel appeared with news that would change everything. Her plans were interrupted, but God’s plan brought salvation to the world.

God’s interruptions are rarely convenient, but they are always purposeful.

2. Why We Resist Divine Redirection
Let’s be honest: when God interrupts, our first reaction is often frustration.
  • “But Lord, this isn’t what I asked for.”
  • “This isn’t in my five-year plan.”
  • “Why now? Why this way?”
We resist because interruptions threaten our sense of control. But control is an illusion anyway. What feels like loss in the moment is often a setup for something greater.

Remember Proverbs 16:9 - “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”

God’s redirection isn’t rejection, it’s protection, positioning, and preparation.

3. Embracing the Redirection
So how do we lean into divine interruptions instead of fighting them?
  • Surrender daily. Begin each day with a simple prayer: “Lord, I give You permission to rearrange my schedule. Your will above mine.”
  • Trust His timing. What feels like a delay is often God saving you from premature exposure or unseen danger.
  • Look for the lesson. Every interruption carries wisdom. Ask, “Lord, what are You teaching me here?”
  • Stay flexible. Faith requires movement. Don’t be so rigid in your expectations that you miss God’s unfolding plan.
4. The Beauty of Divine Interruptions
Some of the most powerful stories in Scripture started as interruptions:
  • Moses was tending sheep when God called him through a burning bush.
  • Saul was on the road to Damascus when Jesus interrupted him and turned him into Paul.
  • The disciples were fishing when Jesus called, “Follow Me.”
Every divine interruption brought someone closer to destiny. Yours will too.

Final Thoughts
Your plans may be good, but God’s plans are perfect. His interruptions are invitations, opportunities to trade your limited vision for His eternal one.

So the next time life doesn’t go as planned, pause before you complain. You may just be standing at the doorway of divine redirection.

Let Him interrupt you. Let Him lead you. Because in His interruptions, you’ll find your true calling.
