FAITH THAT IS GROUNDED, NOT JUST EXCITING

In Matthew 13, Jesus spoke about seeds that fell on rocky ground; they sprang up quickly, but because they had no root, they withered when the sun came up.

That’s the danger of excitement without depth.
We can be moved emotionally by God’s promises, but without roots in His Word, in prayer, and in quiet obedience, our faith can dry up when life gets tough.

Deep roots take time. They grow unseen, in the soil of hidden seasons. That’s where God strengthens your foundation, teaching you to trust beyond what you feel, to believe even when it’s not convenient.

When you still show up when no one applauds, choose peace when anxiety is calling your name, obey God when it costs your comfort, and trust God's character more than your circumstances-that’s the faith that withstands storms, not because it’s flashy, but because it’s rooted in the unchanging nature of God.

To grow this kind of faith, we must:

  1. Stay in the Word – Roots grow deeper when nourished by truth.
  2. Practice stillness – Deep roots don’t grow in hurried soil.
  3. Embrace process – Don’t despise the slow seasons; that’s where depth is formed.
  4. Stay connected – Fellowship keeps your roots healthy and your heart accountable.

Ask yourself: Is my faith only stirred by excitement, or is it strengthened by endurance?
Because the kind of faith that changes lives isn’t built overnight- it’s cultivated in consistency, watered by trust, and sustained by grace.

Let your faith not only lift you high, but hold you steady. 

Scripture to meditate on: “Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught.” - Colossians 2:7 (NLT)

After watching the movie "Waiting Wars" by Gloria Bamiloye, you find tthat there is the faith that makes noise and there is the faith that remains when the noise fades. The kind that survives unanswered questions. The kind that keeps showing up long after the excitement has worn off. The kind that does not collapse when feelings fluctuate.
