THE SPARK WITHIN
“Do not neglect the gift that is in you.” – 1 Timothy 4:14
We are born with something special, a spark placed deep within. It may be a talent, an idea, a passion, or a vision. It’s not random. It’s purposeful. And yet, how often do we leave that spark unattended, buried beneath fear, comparison, or the chaos of life?
The truth is, we all carry gifts that are meant to be stirred, not stored. We were not created to simply get by, blending into the background. There is something in you that the world needs-something no one else can deliver in quite the same way.
Sometimes we don’t recognize our own potential because it doesn’t look like someone else’s. We see singers, speakers, and artists shining publicly, and we think our quiet skill in listening, organizing, or creating behind the scenes isn’t valuable. But it is. Every gift has an impact when it's used with purpose.
Life has a way of distracting us. Responsibilities pile up, setbacks steal our motivation, and doubt whispers that we’re not good enough. Over time, the spark that once burned bright starts to dim, not because it’s gone, but because we’ve stopped tending to it.
Neglect isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s subtle: procrastination, fear of failure, overthinking. But the longer we wait, the heavier the cost, not just for us, but for those who were meant to be blessed by our gift.
The good news is that sparks don’t die easily. With just a little oxygen, a bit of faith, a fresh decision, and a small action, they can ignite into something powerful. You don’t have to know the full plan. Just take one step. Write the paragraph. Make the call. Sketch the idea. Share your voice.
Stirring up your gift doesn’t mean being loud or flashy. It means being faithful. It means refusing to let fear dictate your future. It means showing up, even in small ways, to the calling within you.
Your gift is not just for you. It was placed in you to serve, to inspire, to lift others. What if the encouragement someone needs is locked inside your words? What if the solution to a problem lies in your idea? What if your courage gives someone else permission to believe in themselves?
Today, don’t ignore the spark. Don’t leave your gift on the shelf of your potential. Stir it up. Feed it. Protect it. And most importantly, use it.
You have something powerful within you. Don’t let it go to waste.
