SUCCESS: LET PEACE BE THE MEASURE

The world system promotes hustle, equating success with busyness, constant striving, and never-ending goals. However, Scripture presents a different perspective; a life marked by peace is one of the clearest indications of alignment with God.

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts... and be thankful.” -Colossians 3:15 (ESV)

Peace Is a Spiritual Compass
Peace is more than a feeling. It’s a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) and a divine indicator that we are walking in step with the Lord. When our decisions, relationships, and pace are surrendered to God, peace becomes a natural byproduct.

In contrast, a life of constant anxiety, burnout, and striving may be a sign we’re chasing the wrong version of success.

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” -Isaiah 26:3

Peace Does Not Mean Life Without Problems
Even Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble.” (John 16:33) But He immediately followed with, “Take heart; I have overcome the world.”

True peace isn’t found in perfect circumstances but in a Person. Success, then, is living in such a close relationship with Christ that His peace guards your heart through every storm.

How to Let Peace Guide Your Definition of Success

1. Surrender the Need to Control
Much of our stress comes from trying to manage outcomes God never asked us to carry. Surrender brings rest, and rest invites peace.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” - Psalm 46:10

2. Guard Your Schedule with Discernment
Not every opportunity is a calling. Not every “yes” brings peace. Ask God:
Is this activity bringing me closer to You, or distracting me?
Does this decision bring inner tension or godly peace?

3. Cultivate Peace Daily
Peace is both a gift and a practice. Spend time in Scripture, in prayer, and in silence. Let God’s presence realign your pace and priorities.

“Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble.” - Psalm 119:165

Reflection and Prayer:
Lord, help me to see peace as a sign of true success. Quiet my anxious heart and lead me beside still waters. Teach me to walk at Your pace and rest in Your promises. Amen.
