EASTER REFLECTION: LETTING GO AND STARTING FRESH

Easter is more than a celebration of an empty tomb. It’s an invitation to live differently. Just as Christ left the grave behind, we are called to let go of the things that hold us back and step into the fresh, abundant life He offers.

1. Letting Go of the Old
Before new life can begin, something old must end. Jesus' death on the cross wasn't just a sacrifice; it was a surrender. We, too, are invited to lay down our burdens, regrets, and sins.
Scripture:
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” – Isaiah 43:18-19
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

Letting go is an act of trust. It means believing that God can take our brokenness and bring beauty from it.

2. The Power of the Cross to Set Us Free
The cross is where we leave behind guilt, shame, and fear. Jesus didn’t just die for our forgiveness; He died so we could live free.
Scripture:
“If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” – John 8:36
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 8:1

Through the resurrection, we find a freedom that empowers us to start over with courage and hope.

3. Embracing the Fresh Start
Just as spring follows winter, resurrection follows death. Easter reminds us that God is a God of new beginnings.
Scripture:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.” – Lamentations 3:22-23
We are not defined by our past. In Christ, we are defined by His grace, power, and love.

4. Walking in Resurrection Life
Easter isn’t just a moment; it’s a movement. It calls us to daily resurrection living: to rise with Christ, forgive like Him, and live with open hands and hearts.
Scripture:
“We were buried with him... in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead... we too may live a new life.” – Romans 6:4
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” – Colossians 3:2

Closing Thought:
Letting go may feel like loss, but in God's hands, it's the soil where new life grows.

This Easter, may we lay down what no longer serves us, and rise into what God is calling us to become.

After watching the movie "Waiting Wars" by Gloria Bamiloye, you find tthat there is the faith that makes noise and there is the faith that remains when the noise fades.
